Geometry

Team Treasure students have been learning about Geometry!  Our essential questions are...1.  How can shapes be sorted?  2.  What makes shapes different from eachother?  3.  How can we group certain shapes together?  Why do they belong together?  4.  How can shapes be described?

Today we used yarn to create various shapes and discussed how shapes are different from eachother. At home, see if you can find various shapes with your child and discuss their names.  Some of the shapes we have learned about are triangle, square, rectangel (quarilaterals - four sides shapes), pentagon, hexagon, and circle.

Community Meeting Readers

High Five
to all of our Community Meeting Readers.  Every Thursday a new member of Team Treasure reads their favorite book to the class.  We then discuss if the book is fiction or non-fiction.  We have been learning about informational books this quarter and have been looking for non-fiction features including; an index, heading, sub-headings, labels, captions, a table of context, an index and glossary.  See if you can find these non-fiction features with your child when reading non-fiction texts!
