Class Pirate Pumpkin

Today our class mascot received an eye and eye patch. Can you help dress our pumpkin friend?

Thanks to the Taylor Family!

Thanks for the donation from your garden. This enormous sunflower measured nine feet! It took three measuring tools to get the final result!

Friday Buddies

This past Friday Ms. Azzolina and Mrs. Beutin's class met to work on Open House invitations to send home to remind our families about 2nd floor's Open House next Wednesday, Sept. 25th.  We hope to see all families attend
so your child can share all the wonderful things we have been doing at school.

Apples

It was a noisy morning in room 208...not due to the students or teachers. The machines outside our windows were NOISY! We decided to go outside and take a look.

We are writing about this "small moment" and describing what we saw!

Open House

Wednesday, September 25th is the 2nd floor Open House. It looks like we will have cooler weather than our Meet and Greet night! Please come to the classroom for an adventure. There will be two sessions; 5:30-6:00 and 6:00-6:30. See you then!

Morning Community Meeting

We begin each day with our community meeting. It's been a wonderful opportunity to build relationships for our team. We begin with an engaging discussion each day. This would be something you could discuss with your child when you ask, "What did you do today in school?"

Monday - " What is it?"

Tuesday- "Who am I"

Wednesday - Mystery Bucket

Thursday - Current Events

Friday - Yes/No bag

Afternoon Snack Break

This may be a change for some. Please send a snack to school each day for our afternoon nutritional snack break. We will NOT have "community snacks" any longer. We accept any donations of "extra snacks" for students who forget a snack.

Birthday Treats

As noted in the Wilson handbook, due to the increasing amount of allergies and larger classroom sizes, we are asking that families NOT send birthday treats to school. On the last school day of each month, we will have a monthly birthday celebration. We would like to have a popcorn party and juice boxes. We are hoping that the birthday students’ family can help supply these items instead. Another item noted in the handbook, “Also, please refrain from bringing balloons and other gifts.” Thanks for your understanding regarding this matter!

What is it?

Ms. Azzolina stumped everyone when she brought in this crazy tool? Do you know what it is?

The next pictures will show you! We will be using it during snack time on Friday. Bring an apple to school if you can!

Writing Workshop.

Today we continued to work on writing.  We have been following the steps of writing a small moment (narrative) story.  The steps include... 1. Think, think, think of an idea.  2.  Touch and tell your story across your five fingers.  3. Sketch your pictures across the pages.  4. Write your story across the pages.  5.
Revise by asking yourself "who, what, where, when, and how." Instruction is differentiated for each student at their skill level. We love writing!!!
