Today we used yarn to create various shapes and discussed how shapes are different from eachother. At home, see if you can find various shapes with your child and discuss their names. Some of the shapes we have learned about are triangle, square, rectangel (quarilaterals - four sides shapes), pentagon, hexagon, and circle.

Geometry
Team Treasure students have been learning about Geometry! Our essential questions are...1. How can shapes be sorted? 2. What makes shapes different from eachother? 3. How can we group certain shapes together? Why do they belong together? 4. How can shapes be described?
Community Meeting Readers
High Five to all of our Community Meeting Readers. Every Thursday a new member of Team Treasure reads their favorite book to the class. We then discuss if the book is fiction or non-fiction. We have been learning about informational books this quarter and have been looking for non-fiction features including; an index, heading, sub-headings, labels, captions, a table of context, an index and glossary. See if you can find these non-fiction features with your child when reading non-fiction texts!

Learning About Nutrition
We had a fun and exciting day today in the Team Treasure rooms. We had a special visit from Yavelo's mom (Ms. Cordova and the nurses group from MATC). We learned about the various food groups, learned about the vitamins in certain foods, talked about the importance of drinking water and had some healthy snacks too. Thanks Ms. Cordova and the nurses from MATC! We really enjoyed your visit!
Grace Presents to the School Board
Grace represented Wilson School and Team Treasure last night at the School Board meeting. She shared how learning can be fun and how we include "Play With Purpose" at our school. She led half of the school board in playing "Back Seat Driver" against her brother and the other half of the school board. I am very proud of Grace! She did a fantastic job representing Wilson School! Way to go Grace!

Community Meeting Readers
Calvin, Grace, Ceci and Christian M. were the first four students to read their favorite books to the class. Every Thursday selected students can pick a favorite book to share and read aloud. They all did a fabulous job reading their books. I could tell they really practiced hard! Great job Team Treasure Students! We can't wait to hear more stories!
